Geoffrey Cooper Sculpture

Direct Stone Carving

Welcome to my studio.  For me, sculpture is an exploration of shape and form.

My favorite stones to work with are Alabaster and Albarene.  Using timeless manual techniques (hammer, chisel, stone), I create works of art that seek to express the inner essence of each piece. It is a slow process, as I start with no preconception but rather break away outer layers until the inner nature of each piece is revealed.   I never fail to be surprised at what is in each work, and the twists and turns of the creative process add life and meaning to the stone.

In the end, each unique piece is durable for millennia.

If you would like to find out more about the meaning of one of my sculptures,  view them in person,  or discuss purchase, please contact me at gcooper@rcn.com.
