Ken Irwin

Ken Irwin attended the Boston Museum School in 1967 and Graduated from Massachusetts College of Art in 1975 BFA. Like many artist educated in that period, my work reflects a tension between objective (realistic) and non-objective (abstract) painting. Following graduation, I taught full-time in the state college system. My classes included art history, aesthetics , water color, drawing and oil paining. I have painted in oils in my own studio ever since graduation.

My work draws from my own sketches, photography or commercial visual work that I can incorporate into a painting. Im interested in the human condition and will always subtly go that way. I work hard on color and design elements often looking at a work a long time before moving forward. I paint everyday and although not always successful, attempt to complete a good painting.
